Small entity (including LLCs) filing requirement-Corporate Transparency Act and FINCEN

You may have received an email from the Arizona Corporation Commission regarding a new law under the Corporate Transparency Act related to Beneficial Ownership Interest reporting through FINCEN (the Federal government agency Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). This requires owners of entities, including single-member Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), registered with the Arizona Corporation Commission or Secretary of State, or with any similar government body in another state, to register as a beneficial owner with FINCEN. Inflation Reduction Act of 2022

The recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 contains a multitude of new environmentally related tax credits that are of interest to individuals and small businesses. The Act also extends and modifies some pre-existing tax credits. Extension, Increase, and Modifications of Nonbusiness Energy Property Credit. The recently enacted Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) is a sweeping tax package. Here’s a look at some of the more important elements of the new law that have an impact on individuals. New Due Dates for 1099s and W-2s, Increased Penalties & 28% Backup Withholding

The IRS has published on its website (Increase in Information Return Penalties) a notice reminding businesses of the changes in due dates for information returns this year along with more significant penalties. IRS warns of fake Affordable Care Act-related tax bill emails

IRS and the members of the Security Summit have issued an alert to taxpayers and tax professionals to be on guard against fake emails purporting to contain an IRS tax bill related to the Affordable Care Act. President signs extenders bill into law

On Dec. 19, President Obama signed into law H.R.5771, the “Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014”. The bill generally provides for a 1-year extension, through 2014, of over 50 expired or expiring individual, business, and energy provisions, many of which have been on the books for years but which technically are temporary because they have a specific end date.
